The little and quiet town of PORTO CORSINI is located just north of Marina di Ravenna, from which it is separated by the Corsini canal – last part of the Darsena area and trait d’union between the city and the sea.
Despite the passing of time, the town still keeps that tranquillity that used to mark any typical fishing village in the past.
Although it hosts one of the most important cruise terminals of the Adriatic Sea, modernity has certainly changed its humble origins without turning its character.
Why should you visit Porto Corsini?
Porto Corsini is considered the oldest beach town of Ravenna. This tourist destination privileges the sea and the direct contact with nature, thanks to the rich forest running behind the dunes that outlines its coast.
It’s not by chance that, like the nearby town of Casalborsetti, it offers several camping areas to fully enjoy a holiday in the name of freedom.
You should choose Porto Corsini for its beach, which is one of the widest ones of the whole Riviera, featuring many beach establishments and well-equipped facilities, as well as wide areas of free beach, where you can happily lay under the sun.
A holiday in Porto Corsini is a holiday in the name of dynamism.
Apart from the sea, the town offers many opportunities. Traditional beach-volley and beach-tennis or exciting water sports, such as windsurfing and kitesurfing, not to mention sailing. The Adriatic Wind Club is located right here, with its many dedicated facilities and services.
Don’t miss
Along with the pine forest, the breakwater is maybe the most symbolic element of this place. It’s a very long dock (2.5 km) that runs into the Adriatic sea, protecting the port area behind it.
Popular with fishermen and runners, the dam is a very suggestive panoramic point, from which you can enjoy the beauty of the sea during a walk or a bike ride all year round.
If you are keen on history, you should not miss Capanno Garibaldi, the place where Giuseppe Garibaldi found refuge as he was fleeing from the Austrians, or the Spinaroni Island, a patch of land in Pialassa della Baiona related to the liberation of Ravenna during World War II.
Along with the Oasis of Punte Alberete, this area is a realm of black-winged stilts, flamingos, avocets, and a privileged destination for birdwatching enthusiasts.
Around Porto Corsini
You just have to cross the Corsini canal on a ferry boat to get to the town of Marina di Ravenna, with its pubs and open-air restaurants, or have a walk towards the nearby Marina Romea.
