Surrounded by the waters of Pialassa della Baiona and nestled among century-old pine forests, MARINA ROMEA is one of the most elegant beach towns on the coastline of Ravenna.
It was founded in the 1950s, when the whole area among the sea, the lagoons and the swamps of the Lamone river was full of forests.
Why should you visit Marina Romea?
Born as a residential area featuring mainly second houses, Marina Romea has managed to maintain this characteristic over time. It is an oasis immersed in the green, with a little port, stables, sports facilities and paths that take you directly to the golden sand beach.
The pleasant villas and hotels, surrounded by a lush pine forest, ensure a peaceful and quiet scenery.
Just behind the village, the Po Delta park charms its visitors with the breathtaking landscapes of Pialassa della Baiona, especially enjoyable at sunset, when the sun colours the sky with fire and reflects in the water, standing out on the profile of the Pine forest of San Vitale.
The well-equipped facilities and the many beach establishments alternate with streches of entirely free beach. With crystal-clear sea water, annually awarded the Blue Flag, and a gradually descending seabed, it is an ideal place for the whole family.
In summer, Marina Romea is a beloved holiday destination for its pubs and several parties on the beach. If you want to travel with your own pets, you will find different solutions for your stay both here and in the nearby towns, like Casalborsetti.
Surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, canoeing, beach tennis, beach volley, horse riding (even at the beach!), nordic walking, fishing or just a simple walk or a bike ride in the pine forest.
In Marina Romea holidays also mean activity and sports all year round.
Don’t miss
Among the countless possible activities, a special mention goes to the long walks along the banks of Pialassa della Baiona. Among typical fishing huts and flocks of birds of various species, you will see one of Ravenna’s most charming sceneries.
Another stunning view is the one you can enjoy around the mouth of the Lamone river, an interesting area for the surfers of the surroundings. Here, on clear days, you can see a long stretch of the Ravenna coastline, up to Punta Marina Terme. And waiting for the sun to go down behind the profile of the pine forest is a very charming experience.
If you are a rider, look for the cycle and pedestrian path running along the Lamone river, that from the towns of Russi and Bagnacavallo leads to the Adriatic sea – 35-kilometre-long trail immersed in history, culture and nature.
