A journey to the discovery of the territory north/west of Ravenna, with more than 60 kilometres of gravel road in the Po Delta Park.
138 kilometres, 400 metres of elevation gain. Departure point: the historical centre of Ravenna.
You start by cycling southwards and, as soon as you get out of the city, head westwards along the Fiumi Uniti river (and then along the Lamone river) until you reach the small town of Ragone.
Then, the itinerary continues northwards through San Pancrazio, Russi, Bagnacavallo and Alfonsine.
A perfect opportunity to discover many small towns that characterise this area, known as Bassa Romagna.
The whole terrritory is crossed by roads and paths, which are very nice to cover by bike. On your way, you will find ancient towns, artisan workshops, bell towers in the middle of the countryside but most of all people, witnesses of the passing of time.
Once you get to the small hamlet of Madonna del Bosco, a 15-km-long gravel road will take you straight into the Po Delta Regional Park up to the Oasis of Campotto, in close proximity to Argenta.
From here, you cross the Reno river and, following its course, you reach the southern Valleys of Comacchio, an incredible wetland of more than 130 sqm between the province of Ferrara and the province of Ravenna, inhabited by a rich variety of flora and fauna.
Thanks to a picturesque ferry-boat on the Reno river, you come to Sant’Alberto and, after 25 kilometres in the countryside north of Ravenna, you get back to the starting point.
