From 20th April to 4th June, the Via Zirardini Open-Air Gallery hosts a series of posters linked to the exhibition Il patrimonio della biodiversità – Mosaico e Natura, on display at Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste from 22nd April to 4th June, organised by the Tourism department of the Municipality of Ravenna and the Po Delta Park.
The posters combine the photos of some specimens of birds populating the Po Delta Park to their reproductions in mosaic. Photos and mosaics will be the protagonists of the exhibition hosted in the halls of Palazzo Rasponi, aiming to emphasize the relationship between art and territory in Ravenna, existing since the time when Ravenna was the capital of the ancient world. The mosaics of Ravenna feature a vast representation of the birds that, today as in the past, can be admired in our territory.
The mosaic birds in the exhibition are part of the series of copies of ancient mosaics realised by Gruppo Mosaicisti di Ravenna in the 1950s, which today are works of art themselves. The photos were provided by the Po Delta Park and were realised by Maurizio Bonora, Massimiliano Costa, Nicola Merloni, Luciano Piazza and Roberto Zaffi.
A special thanks goes to Opera di Religione della Diocesi di Ravenna, the Italian Ministry of Culture – Direzione Regionale Musei Emilia-Romagna and the Superintendence for archaeology, fine arts and lanscape for the provinces of Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini.
