From 12th October 2024 to 12th January 2025, MAR – Ravenna Art Museum hosts I’M A MOSAIC – Da Severini, Sironi e Fontana a Paladino, Plessi e Samorì, an exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the School of Mosaic, in collaboration with Accademia di Belle Arti Statale di Ravenna.
The exhibition traces the history of the School of Mosaic of Accademia di Belle Arti di Ravenna with a journey through 20th-century contemporary art, taking visitors to the origins of the rebirth of mosaic art in Ravenna in the 1920s and then at the end of the 1950s.
Light, matter and colour, fragments and reconstruction make up the central idea of the exhibition, establishing connections among some of the most important artists and movements of contemporary art – from the works of Gino Severini, Achille Funi and Mario Sironi through the original creations of Lucio Fontana and the Transavangarde of Enzo Cucchi, Sandro Chia and Mimmo Paladino, up to strictly contemporary art with Fabrizio Plessi‘s installations and various significant works of Nicola Samorì, Ugo Marano and Aldo Mondino.
