FOCUS

MARCH 2025 WOMEN IN THE RAVENNA RESISTANCE

From 7TH to 31ST March 2025 the Via Zirardini Open-Air Gallery will host the photographic exhibition WOMEN IN THE RAVENNA RESISTANCE – IMAGES FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHIC ARCHIVE OF THE HISTORICAL INSTITUTE OF RAVENNA.

The exhibition was created in collaboration with the Historical Institute of the Resistance and Contemporary Age in Ravenna and its province and is part of the programme of celebrations for 8th March.

It is a tribute to the young women who voluntarily offered their contribution to the partisan fighters during the Liberation Struggle, defying intimidation and dangers that could have cost them their lives.

Among the images is the figure of Natalina Vacchi, hanged in Ravenna on 25th August 1944 at Ponte degli Allocchi, Bronze Medal in Remembrance, Ines Bedeschi, Gold Medal for Military Valour in Remembrance, slaughtered in the Parma area almost at the end of the war, and the five Bartolotti sisters, all strongly committed to the struggle.
