On the occasion of the 8th Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic, from 24th September to 31st December 2023, the NatuRa Museum of Sant’Alberto hosts the exhibition OMAGGIO AL MOSAICISTA ROMOLO PAPA, a homage to the mosaic artist 100 years after he was born (1923-2023).
Romolo Papa, mosaic artist from Sant’Alberto, has always had a great passion for drawing; his uncle took him to Ravenna to take part in free painting, decoration, sculpture and mosaic courses of the Academy.
In 1948, the Municipality of Ravenna offered the mosaic artists from the city to create the first Gruppo Mosaicisti to restore and promote the great artistic heritage of Ravenna. In the post-war period Papa thus took part in the first renovation works and worked on new mosaic works commissioned by public and private institutions in Italy and abroad.
